Paper Types

ProPrint offers a wide variety of high quality coated and uncoated papers in both text weight and cover weight grades.

Coated papers have a coating applied to their surface that restricts and controls how the paper absorbs ink. Uncoated papers have no coating, which allows them to completely absorb ink. Uncoated papers are perfect for writing.

American papers are graded in terms of how they are commonly used. Text weight paper is lightweight paper commonly used for reading and writing, whereas cover weight paper is heavy cardstock commonly used for book covers.

Uncoated

Uncoated papers have no coating, which makes them perfect for writing. Offered in 60#, 80#, 10 pt., 14 pt., and 18 pt.

Great for :

  • Flyers
  • Letterhead
  • Booklets

Gloss

Gloss papers have a smooth coated surface that is slightly reflective. Additional coatings such as matte and high gloss can be applied. Offered in 80# and 100#.

Great for :

  • Booklets
  • Sales Sheets
  • Binder inserts

C1S Cover

C1S Cover is coated on one side. The coated side features a smooth surface while the uncoated side features an uncoated, writable surface. Offered in 10 pt., 14 pt., and 18 pt.

Binding Types

Saddle-Stitch

Saddle Stitch Binding

8-80 Pages

Great for:

  • Catalogs
  • Periodicals/Newsletters

Saddle Stitching uses staples to cinch sheets of the paper in their center, creating a spine. It is the most simple and affordable of our binding options. Note that due to the staple being perpendicular to the pages, saddle stitch booklets do not fold flat.

Square Back Saddle Stitch Binding

Square Back Saddle Stitch Binding

8-80 Sheets

Great for:

  • Catalogs
  • Periodicals/Newsletters

Square Back Saddle Stitching is identical to saddle stitching, but an additional step is added to flatten the spine of the book, creating a more polished look. Square back saddle stitching is an aesthetic equivalent to perfect binding that comes as a significantly lower cost.

PUR Perfect

PUR Perfect Binding

16-1000 Pages

Great for:

  • Catalogs
  • Periodicals/Newsletters

Perfect Binding is achieved by applying glue to the interior of a book's spine to bind the pages together. The finished product is a durable, elegant, flat spined book.

Perfect Binding is best applied on books over 100 pages (50 sheets), as shorter documents can cause the adhesive to pool and bubble in the spine, resulting in a far-from-ideal finish. Catalogs, publications, presentations, and magazines are excellent candidates for perfect binding.

PUR (or Polyurethane Reactive) perfect binding is the slightly more expensive, yet durable option of our perfect binding offerings. Unlike our other option, EVA, PUR is a permanent adhesive that cannot be reheated and reapplied. PUR is also significantly more durable and flexible than EVA.

Square Back Saddle Stitch Binding

Coil / Spiral / Wire O

8-8000 Pages

Great for:

  • Catalogs
  • Periodicals/Newsletters

Coil, or Spiral, Binding is a punch-and-bind process that utilizes a plastic spiral to bind pages of a document together.

Wire-O binding is also a punch-and-bind process, however it uses a metal, twin looped metal wire to bind pages together. Wire-O binding has a more polished look than coil/spiral binding but, due to the spine's metal construction, is more prone to damage due to bending.
